Lario Park Hazardous Waste Site

ASG

Arcadia, CA, has joined forces with nearby cities like Duarte, Irwindale, Monrovia, and Pasadena to oppose the EPA's decision to establish a hazardous waste site at Lario Park near the San Gabriel River in Duarte. This site, intended for processing debris from the Eaton Fire, is dangerously close to residential areas, posing health risks from materials like asbestos and lead.

The community has rallied behind a petition on Change.org, demanding safer alternatives and criticizing the lack of community engagement. LA County Supervisor Hilda Solis and other local leaders have expressed significant concerns over the potential impact on public health, especially for children and the elderly.

Advocates propose handling the waste at the fire's origin to prevent further contamination. Arcadia, alongside other cities, plans to explore legal options and seek dialogue with the EPA to reconsider the site's location.

Residents are encouraged to sign the petition here and stay informed through community meetings. For more information and to support the cause, visit www.arcadiasafetyguardians.com.

This united community effort highlights a commitment to safety and environmental protection against potentially harmful decisions.
